Common Factors for Viral YouTube Videos - ABC News
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Currently, I don’t have a clue when it comes to YouTube - but I am a 30 day challenger; and I know some fellow challengers are looking for ways to leverage the viral possibilities of YouTube and the associated traffic.
I was just watching iCaught on ABC last night and they had a segment about common factors that viral videos on YouTube seem to have. Here’s their list:
1) Keep it short - 7 minutes may as well be War and Peace
2) The freakier the better - so get your phreak on…
3) Looks matter - production value, actors, graphics
4) Passion Pays - if you’re faking it, people will catch on
5) Sex Sells - always has, always will…
Those of you who are experienced with YouTube may already know this stuff, but when I saw the show, I thought of this year’s Thirty Day Challengers and started taking notes in my newly installed Google notebook for FireFox. (that is so flippin’ handy)
I have yet to get into video (need to upgrade computer / switch to a MAC, etc.). But when I do, I’ll try filtering my videos through this list and see if there are things I can do to make my YouTube videos go viral.
Ciao
