Dateline is one of the news shows that exposes the online dangers that we need to be aware of. They have aired numerous shows about online offenders. The premise of the show is this: they have someone pose as an under age boy or girl and then they bust online predators when they go to their house to have some kind of inappropriate contact with a minor. They really do arrest them and they are charged with criminal offenses. This is a great show, because it proves that there are people living in your backyard with tendencies to molest children. Even if it is a 16 yr old, the person is still a child. They have not gone through high school. They have not even celebrated their legal independence. It’s just wrong!

Dateline and other online offender shows are trying to make the public aware that we need to protect our children. You will find that they move the show all the time and they might show up just down the road from you.  There are certainly some audacious sex offenders. You have no idea what they are capable of. You just need to think about whether or not that could have been your daughter or you son.

Dateline usually arrests just men (men of all ages too), however, they have had leads towards women, but no arrests. The reason behind this is that they do not take it as far as coming to the house for sex. They just make inappropriate talk. Just because Dateline is not catching women too often, doesn’t mean that they are not predators. You need to keep in mind that a son needs protection just as much as a daughter from these people.

Dateline has been a great help. They’ve opened the public’s eyes to this problem and have gotten the attention of the government. They are now setting up task forces that will do the same thing. In these stings, they will bust twenty people at a time. That is twenty less predators after your child. It has really taken a bite out of sex crimes. Fewer people are going online for looking for prey because it could be a set up. Everyone is worried if it is Dateline coming after them. The predators are watching their backs because they do not want their mug posted on National TV.

The more that Dateline airs these shows, the more people are going to feel protected. There are websites where you can see if there are online predators in your home town. You should look them up. Tell your children to avoid any people who look like this and that they need to be very careful and check in with you periodically. With a sex offender in your town, you will need to make sure that your children come home and leave in groups. It’s just not safe to be out alone.
