When it comes to delivering a speech in public, you will want to do everything you can to bond with your audience. When you are speaking to others you have to be able to make a connection. To make that connection, you will want to ensure that you know how to connect with them by understanding their situation. You will want to make sure that you learn why they are coming to hear you and what they need to get out of the speech. You may also want to consider their age, race, and gender when it comes to bonding with the audience. In addition, you want to find out why the group is coming together. Not everything is voluntary. If you find out if it is something that they have to do, you may want to be prepared for a hostile audience.

You are going to have to learn how to speak to and instruct others. With that said, how will you ever get their attention and keep it - if you do not bond with them? Make sure that you do everything you can to research the type of people who you will be standing in front. If the audience intimidates you, you may want to think about taking the opportunity to make the speech casual.
Sit among them and listen more than speak to begin with. This is a good tip when it comes to being a motivational speaker.

You will want to tell stories as well to bond with the audience. Let them know that you have been in the same situation they have been in. Make sure that you do everything you can to express the emotions and the passion behind your stories. It is very important as a motivational speaker to bond with the audience. If you are telling a speech about how kids need to avoid drinking, then tell them a story about the bottle that got you in trouble. Let them know that you know what it was like to be one of them. They are more likely to listen to you and they will get more out of the speech. This can be very important for those who are good motivational speaking to people like prisoners. Find some common ground.

If you are going to give a speech, you might as well deliver it with passion. You will want to reach your audience and you will want to make an impact on at least one person in the room. As a motivational speaker it can be rough. You may have to deal with people who don’t think they have a problem or people who just don’t want to be there, however, you have the opportunity to show another human being that it’s okay to screw up, and that it is possible to change. Change does not always have to be a bad thing.
